Ana Rita Pires

Ana has lived her life between Portugal and Australia. This sharing of territories has been the catalyst in the development of her work as a visual artist and arts educator. Her work questions themes such as migration, identity and place.

Ana Rita has worked as an independent artist for the past 12 years and worked on projects such as working with diverse communities in various socially engaged projects in Portugal; participated in the Transatlantic Artists Encounter in Santiago, Cape Verde Islands; collaborated with a number of city councils and delivered a range of participatory public art projects; has collaborated on an ongoing basis with Footscray Community Arts Centre and has also participated in Community Arts Festival such as Big West and West Projections Festival.

Her most recent adventure is the creation of an Art Collective and studio, called Fandata Studio, a shared journey with her partner Mito Elias.

Ana Rita currently lives and works in Melbournes West with her partner, Mito Elias and daughters Tamira and Indigo.
