Christina Prakanthan is an Indian Classical Dance (Bharathanatyam) Practitioner and Teacher based in Melbourne. Born and raised in Colombo, SriLanka Christina pursued her higher education in Bangalore, India. Out of sheer passion for Classical Arts and the love for teaching she established her own Dance school in 2012 and co-founded Natyatharu school of Dance with her sister Daveena Langton. Today Natyatharu has branched out in Melbourne, Australia and Orlando , Florida (USA). It successfully runs Bharathanatyam classes with an innovative curriculum method which best suits the current generation of students.
Christina conferred the title Visharadha when she was 13 years old from Bhathkande Sangeeth Vidhyapeet, Lucknow (India). She later pursued a Bachelor's in Computer Applications under Bangalore University (2005/08) and a Master's in Business Administration (Human Resources Management) under the University of Wales (UK) (2008/10).
Ms. Prakanthan is a 'Community Leader' of the Melton City Council and serves as a Board Member for the 'Intercultural Advisory Committee' (Melton). She is the President of the 'Bharathanatya Aacharya Association of Victoria, Australia' (BAAVA) , which conducts Annual public Bharathanatyam Exams in Victoria.
Christina performs regularly in Melbourne Dance festivals and events and is actively involved in Community services.
She runs classes and training programmes at Caroline Springs (Melbourne West). Her students regularly perform for Multicultural and Community events and take up Annual Dance Exams.
A mum of two Boys Haran (5) and Aegan (turning 2), Christina loves reading, cooking and working out.
