We know it can be difficult juggling your artistic practice and family, so we’ve made it easier for you this month by creating a very special, family friendly Arts West Catch Up Club as part of Due West Arts Festival!
Our kids are the next generation of arts makers, and as artists, parents and guardians, we need to inspire and allow ourselves to BE inspired!
Bring your kids along on Saturday 23rd for a hilariously fun afternoon of performance, picnics and politics as a gang of gutsy kids turn up the heat and crank up the volume in this riotous interactive chat show, CHILDREN OF THE EVOLUTION, by Arts West Creative Members Born in a Taxi.
Armed with microphones, questioning minds, and big imaginations they tackle topics from the ridiculous to the political. In this new physical, fun and hard-hitting show, children take adult experts to task.
Kids, come and have your say about stuff that doesn’t make sense, makes you mad or something you want adults to answer for. Be part of the live podcast recording and risk wetting your pants with laughter and horror.
Co-created with director Jackson Castiglione, Flynn Murphy, Mani Bishop, Lola McCann, Zara Nawaz, Sunday Orchard Livingston, and Arts West Creative Members Penny Baron and Carolyn Hanna (Born In A Taxi).
Joins us after the show for a picnic and great conversation on the Footscray Community Arts Centre lawns.

Disappear into the world of 1914 for a surreal journey blurring the lines between contemporary circus, immersive theatre, historical re-imagining and art installation.
A significant local landmark, Footscray’s Drill Hall was built in 1914 as a site for compulsory military training for boys and men and has been home to Women’s Circus since 2006. Created and performed by over 60 Women’s Circus members, alongside a team of renowned artists, THE DRILL draws on the site’s original purpose – service for WW1. This important work uncovers buried stories to explore the effects of war on communities and poses the question: what happens to human behaviour in the face of adversity?
Discount Offer valid for:
WHEN: 8pm, Saturday 23rd November.
WHERE: Women*s Circus, The Drill Hall, 395 Barkly St, West Footscray, VIC, 3012

Unwoman is song. Unwoman is a crime. Unwoman is a real and substantial risk.
UNWOMAN is an epic and imagistic piece of feminist theatre created in both Ireland and Australia, examining reproductive rights, experiences of pregnancy and bodily autonomy.
Made with THE RABBLE, professional performers and a community ensemble of pregnant performers, UNWOMAN is an invocation of the pregnant body as a plurality of experiences. It is visceral, carnal and an uncompromising piece of feminist theatre horrified by the history and laws attempting to curb bodily autonomy and reproductive rights.
Discount Offer valid for:
WHEN: 7pm, Saturday 23rd November.
WHERE: The SUBSTATION, 1 Market Street, Newport, VIC, 3015
