Catch Up Club: Connections

  • Long Space Gallery 419 Melbourne Road Newport, VIC, 3015 Australia (map)

Join us for a very special Artists networking event as part of CONNECTED, an exhibition by Arts West Creative Members; Francesca De Maria; Linda Fry; Tamirat Gebremarium; Jonathan Goodfellow; and Larissa MacFarlane and curated by Danielle Smelter.

This exhibition draws on connections; between the artist and their own work, other artists; and to the world in different but interrelated ways. Because creativity, and beyond that creative practice, cannot thrive in isolation. It requires inspiration, conversation, points of reception and interaction, funding, practical support, re-evaluation. It requires an audience, and to be sustainable it usually requires a market. These are all elements a creative practice needs to thrive and flourish, but at its core, artistic practice is driven more simply by a need to connect.

Come and hear our artists talk about their work and the importance of connection to their artistic practice and wider community. There will be food and wine and great conversation and a wonderful opportunity to meet with fellow artists in the West.

WHEN: Thursday 25th July 2019, 6pm - 8pm.
WHERE: Long Space, 419 Melbourne Rd, Newport VIC 3015
COST: FREE but bookings recommended
