Kirsty Hillhouse has an extensive career in performance making and arts management spanning over 25 years. She has worked on over 80 productions nationally and internationally embracing both stage and screen performance. She works as a dramaturg, director, performer, movement designer, producer and artistic director.
She has worked with Flagship institutions such as the Bell Shakespeare Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Black Swan State Theatre Company, Perth International Arts Festival, and Physical Theatre Company Legs on The Wall, (winners of the Sidney Myer Award). She has been nominated for Best Actress at the Equity Guild Awards for her performance in Love for Deckchair Theatre Company, Twelfth Night for Deckchair Theatre Company, and The Return for Perth Theatre Company. She founded performance companies Disruptive Services and Armchair Factotum, creating large-scale physical theatre and aerial performances for Festival d'Avignon, Sydney Festival, Adelaide Festival among others, and interactive, site-responsive performances for Powerhouse Museum, Natural Museum, Floriade Festival and Canberra Festival. She has an enviable reputation as a dramaturg after 15 years working with theatre companies, independent works, Playwriting Australia and Stages Playwrights Consortium. Her recent screen work includes Wentworth, Neighbours, Sunshine, Cloud Street, and The Circuit (winning the Ensemble Outstanding Achievement Award - WA Screen Awards).
